Road freight · Nordics to and from Baltics
The lanes we publish
Grouped the way the work actually splits: vehicles one way, general cargo the other. Each page describes the real route — the road legs, the crossing, the operator, and whether there is a customs event at the end of it.
- 10 published lanes
- Customs on Norway only
- Every lane runs both ways

02 — Vehicles
Vehicle lanes
Cars and motorcycles, running or not, collected from a private seller, a dealer or an auction yard. These five are the lanes people actually search for on the car side.

03 — Cargo
Cargo lanes
Pallets, part loads and full loads. Norway and Denmark appear here and not on the vehicle side — the split is deliberate, and each page says why.

04 — The crossings
Every crossing on this map, and who sails it
Each lane above ends at one of these. The times are the operators' own published statements, attributed to them.
- Helsinki–Tallinn
- Tallink — “a two-hour trip” on MyStar and Megastar, West Harbour to Old City. Eckerö Line — 2 h 45 timetabled, Vuosaari to Muuga, on the M/S Finbo Cargo. Viking Line Cargo — 2 h 15 to 2 h 45 on Viking XPRS.
- Nynäshamn–Ventspils
- Stena Line — “approx 8 h 30 min”, up to two departures a day, on the Stena Scandica and Stena Baltica.
- Karlshamn–Klaipėda
- DFDS, with TT-Line — 13 hours, nine sailings a week. Accompanied freight closes an hour and a half before departure, two hours for hazardous goods.
- Tallinn–Stockholm
- Tallink — 16 hours on the Baltic Queen, every other evening.
- Paldiski–Kapellskär
- DFDS — the operator does not publish a crossing time, so we do not either.
- Muuga–Vuosaari
- DFDS — the operator does not publish a crossing time. Accompanied freight closes an hour before departure, two hours for hazardous goods.
- Haparanda–Tornio
- A land border, not a crossing. No sailing, no check-in deadline — the only pairing on this list where that is true.
Where an operator does not publish a crossing time we leave the line empty rather than estimate it. None of these are G-Trans transit times — we do not publish those at all, on any lane, and the reason is in the questions below.
05 — Also
What is not on this list
A lane without a page is not a lane we do not run.
- Lithuania
- Lithuania is inside our coverage in both directions, and Klaipėda is on the route for half the lanes above. It does not yet have a lane page of its own.
- Within the Nordics, within the Baltics
- Movements inside each region are ordinary work. Sweden to Finland is on this list precisely because it is one of them.
- The reverse of every lane
- Every lane runs both ways. Where the reverse direction has a page it is linked from the lane itself; where it does not, ask for a price and say which way round it is.
- Sea freight
- Containers from Riga to destinations worldwide are a separate service, with a page of their own.
06 — Questions
About the routes
Q1Do you only run the lanes listed here?
No. These are the lanes with a page of their own. Our coverage by road is Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark to and from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, plus movements within the Nordics and within the Baltics. If your pairing is not on this list, the absence of a page is not the absence of a service — ask for a price and tell us the two addresses.
Q2Why is there no car page for Norway or Denmark?
Because on those two countries the work we are asked for is cargo rather than cars. We do move vehicles to and from Norway and Denmark — and Norway in particular has a trap worth knowing about, since Norwegian temporary plates are valid in Sweden, Denmark and Finland only, not in Latvia, Estonia, Poland or Germany. The lanes that earned a page of their own are the ones people actually search for.
Q3Why do you not publish transit times?
Because we cannot stand behind them yet. Our internal figures are engineering estimates built from road distances, published ferry schedules and the driver-hours rules, and they have not been approved as a service promise. Only three of roughly twenty carriers on this corridor publish transit times at all. We would rather join them with a figure that has been signed off than beat them with one that has not. Ask, and you will get a straight answer for your specific shipment.
Q4Is there a ferry from Rīga to Stockholm?
No. The route was discontinued in 2020 and has not been restored; talks about reopening it resumed in July 2026, but nothing sails today. Sweden to Latvia runs as road, one crossing — Nynäshamn to Ventspils with Stena Line, or Karlshamn to Klaipėda with DFDS — and road again. Tallinn to Stockholm, by contrast, is a genuine direct sailing.
Q5Which lanes have a customs event?
Only the Norwegian ones. Norway is in the EEA but outside the EU customs union, so a shipment to or from Norway needs an export declaration, a transit document and an import declaration. Every other lane on this list runs EU to EU, with no customs formality at all. Two Norwegian dates are worth putting in your calendar: Digitoll makes digital notification mandatory on 15 September 2026, and from 1 March 2027 the declaration has to be submitted no later than the border crossing.
Q6How quickly will I hear back?
